Book App/Site of the Fortnight – BorrowBox.

BorrowBox is a great little app for reading e-books or listening to audiobooks for free with the aid of your local library.  You can browse, borrow and read or listen to your library’s e-books and audiobooks anywhere, and everywhere.  It’s available on Kindle, iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Windows 10.

To use the BorrowBox service you must be based in the UK and be a registered member at a participating library. You can download e-books and mp3 files for a limited period and read/listen offline.  You can also reserve and renew books whenever you choose.  There’s a wide range of titles available – all bestsellers, and also some books available in the Welsh language.

This is such a sad story I often struggled to bring myself to read it.  The novel is written as if it were a true story told by the central character, 5-year-old Tomos.  Tomos has just moved in with his birth mother, following a long period of foster care which came to an end when the foster parent died. This book is part whodunit and part thriller– but not in equal measures.

The central character, Alex, wakes up to find he has been in a coma for over a year – but everyone still thinks he is in the coma – he cannot move a finger.  He gathers from his visitors that he had an accident while rock climbing but he has no recollection of what happened.  Halfway through the book, Alex finds out that he was a victim of attempted murder, and tries his utmost to work out who would want to do it and how it could have happened.  Continue reading If I Die Before I Wake by Emily Koch.
