This is such a sad story I often struggled to bring myself to read it. The novel is written as if it were a true story told by the central character, 5-year-old Tomos. HI folks! If you’re anything like me, you love to read e-books and pay next to nothing for them! Here I’ve repeated a post from one of my previous book blogs about 3 ways to get free and cheap e-books.
Freebooksy.com is a great website, where you can either search or browse for free e-books, or get email alerts, alerting you to the latest e-books available for free in your favorite genres. It’s quick and easy to register for email alerts for books in your favorite genres – you just tell them what device you read from, what your favorite genres are, and whether you want to receive the emails daily or weekly. Here you are also given the option to sign up for alerts on heavily discounted e-books.
Just about all of the e-books on freebooksy.com are available for the Kindle, but several of them are also available for the Apple iBooks, Nook, or Kobo.
Like Freebooksy, Bookbub sends you email alerts for e-books in your favorite genres. Bookbub will send you recommendations for a mix of free and heavily discounted books. Bookbub offers are available for Kindle, Apple iBooks, and Google Play.
Amazon has deals on for Kindle books every single day. If you shop by department and then go to Kindle e-readers and books, then Kindle books, you will find sections such as: Kindle deals, and Kindle daily deals.
Another way to get free or cheap e-books from Amazon, is simply to search by a keyword, and sort the results to get the cheapest at the top. You’ll be surprised how many free or cheap books you can find this way!
The only caveat about free e-books is that sometimes when a book is advertised as free, it is sometimes the first in a series of books, and has a cliff-hanger ending, prompting you to spend on the second in the series. But that isn’t always a bad thing! Happy reading!

This intense book is just as much a horror as a thriller.
The story begins as a stream of consciousness, written in the first person, from Clarissa. She is writing to log the actions of Rafe, her stalker, but it’s written as though it’s Rafe himself that she’s talking to. Much of the story is written in this way. There are some books that really stand the test of time! Once I know the plot of a book, it’s very rare that I’d be interested in reading the book again – but there are some exceptions.
In “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Bronte, the tension between the characters is palpable, with intense passion and seething revenge.
Then there’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde. I’ve never read wittier dialogue anywhere! Just as funny now as when it was written over 100 years ago.
Then there’s “Great Expectation” by Charles Dickens – the master of plot. I originally read an abridged version but would love to read the full version one day.

Did you know you could access over 56,000 books for free online? Project Gutenburg hosts a huge collection of digitised e-books, available for free. As well as streams of literature, it also holds reference books and cookbooks.
Project Gutenburg is a volunteer effort to digitally archive books after copyright clearance, which effectively means it includes all the timeless classics. Most books in the collection are distributed as public domain under U.S. copyright law. Its goal is “to provide as many e-books in as many formats as possible for the entire world to read in as many languages as possible”. Luckily, most releases are in English. New books are added every week.
The books are available in Plain text, HTML, EPUB, PDF, and MOBI (Kindle). In addition to downloading straight to your PC or device, there is also the option to download straight to Dropbox, Google Drive, or One Drive. Here’s the link: http://www.gutenberg.org/
